thank you all for your messages. It is nice to hear something from home!
My sixth day in Thailand was a very relaxing one. In the morning i tried to reroute my australia plans but due to flight unavailability, this did not work. The rest of the day was spent at the gym of the holiday inn, playing tennis with the staff there and lying by the pool. I topped it off by going to the cinema to see Defience. In Thailand you have a VIP Cinema. This costs 600 bath, (€ 12). This means you get a snack before the movie, a chair that you can put your feet up in and free drinks and popcorn.
Before the movie starts however, you have to stand and watch a small film of the King of Thailand to pay your respects. Everybody complies and it is a nice tribute.
The next day started early I was picked up at 07.00 to get to two of the higlights of the bangkok part of my trip. The first stop was Kanchanaburi, the place where the bridge on the river Kwai was built. The movie was actually filmed in Sri Lanka.
The village is mostly based around the bridge and you can walk over the bridge and visit a museum dedicated to the process of building the bridge and the Birma railway.
After that we took a train from another railway station to cross a wooden railway bridge known as dead mans curve. Cool to do but it was not the bridge i expected it to be.
After that we went to have lunch. A buffet lunch serving thai food which was very nice.
After lunch we drove about 20 minutes to the Tiger Temple. The tiger temple is a place where monks took in wounded and hurt tigers and other animals to give them a better life. It has grown to become a large preseratory for tigers and their pups. The tigers are used to having people around them and you can have your picture taken while petting tigers. I will include a picture of me having a lie down with three tigers on a rock in tiger canyon. A very cool picture in my view. Tigers feel like very big cats with rough hair. Their paws are huge. I will also include a picture to demonstrate that.
I am now preparing for my departure to Australie on Monday. I am looking forward to that very much.
Put a steak on the barbie for me :)
till next time!!
Philip

Ontzettend veel zin in.
Laatste nieuws.
All the best and keep us posted. Kus, Alexandra -
