I am now in Melbourne. I am staying in the Elisabeth street Hostel, just across from Victoria market. Melbourne is a nice compact city, with a grid system, so you can hardly get lost. And you can also walk pretty much everywhere.
I started off by taking a free tram around the city that tells you where everything is. Then I went on a walk around the riverside, past the Rod Laver Arena and the various other stadiums for cricket, rugby and Aussie Football.
Melbourn is in the point of the bushfires. they tell me that the smell of smoke is just dissapearing. So that is pretty intense. There are numerous activities to raise funds for the Bushfire victims. I went to a concert by Roberta Flack, a jazz singer. One of her most famous songs is " killing me softly" that was great to do. During the day i took a tour of the Rod Laver Arena. That was a great experience. They drew my attention to a tennis work out. That means you get to play on the outside courts of the venue of the Australian Open. Obviously, i went for that. So today (friday) I took that oppertunity. In the afternoon i went to St. Kilda, a nice beach area. I had lunch there watching out over sea. Always a pleasent thing to do.
Tomorrow i am going to a rugby game also to raise funds for the bushfire relief. I am certainly getting my share of events.
Well enjoy your day and i hope you are all well.
Till next time!!
Philip
